GMAC to Restate Financial Results, Casts Doubt on Sale

GM said yesterday that it will restate financial results for its GMAC unit. The restatement will cover 2003, 2004 and part of 2005.

GM also commented that, given the restatement and other factors, it did not know if it could successfully sell a majority stake in GMAC at this point.
