Visa International and MasterCard Inc. both said yesterday that they will not be accepting credit card transactions for purchases of online music made on a Russian Web site AllofMP3.com, according to the Associated Press.

AllofMP3.com has been widely accused of selling music illegally on their web site.

Visa asked member merchants not to process purchases from AllofMP3.com as of Sept. 1, Simon Barker, a spokesman for the company, told the Associated Press.

"The action Visa has taken is in line with legislation passed in Russia and with basic international copyright and intellectual property norms," Barker said.

MasterCard quit accepting credit card purchases on the Web site in early August, said Chris Harrall, a spokesman for the company.
