NCO Group Acquires Call Center from MCI

According to the Rockford Register Star, NCO Group, Inc. has agreed to acquire a call center in Rockford, IL from MCI. The paper said that the story was confirmed by both companies yesterday.

The call center in question currently employs 425 people. According to the story, an MCI spokesperson claimed that, "All affected employees are being offered jobs and benefits with NCO Group, that are substantially similar to the jobs and benefits the employees have with MCI." The spokesperson also said that most of the employees "work in order processing." It is unclear whether the facility will be used as a collection center or will be part of NCO's BPO offerings.

NCO Group is slated to take over the facility on December 2 of this year.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
