Top business, banking and retail lobbyists cranked up the pressure on House lawmakers to pass new bankruptcy laws in a meeting this week with House Majority Whip Tom Delay, R-Texas.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, American Bankers Association, Financial Services Roundtable, National Retail Federation, America's Community Bankers and Credit Union National Association, among others, pressed Delay in a meeting Thursday to put the legislation to a vote before this November's federal elections.
