Collection Law Firm Opens Opportunities For Disabled Workers

A Nashville-based collection law firm, Robinson, Reagan & Young, is giving back to its community by providing jobs to more than a dozen people living with disabilities.

 

The Jackson Sun profiles the firm, as well as Patricia Warren, a person living with a back injury disability. "I've been working for two years and I love it," she said Tuesday at a ground-breaking for the law firm. "I always wanted to do office work, but I was in garment work and got stuck. I like being able to use my mind and I don't have to use my body."

Thanks in part to the success its had in employing folks with disabilities, Robinson, Regan, & Young were able to turn the former satellite office in Jackson, Tennessee, into a full-fledged operation.

The firm hopes to be able to employ another 15 individuals with disabilities.

Disabled people in the Jackson-area are benefiting from Jackson's STAR Center receivables management class. The STAR Center is a resource and assistive technology center for people with disabilities.

STAR Center CEO and founder Margaret Doumitt said that every child and adult the center assists wants to get a job to further their independence. "Our clients are well-trained, enthusiastic and willing to work," she said.
