Does anybody know why the criteria differs so much between the 3 major credit reporting agencies when it comes to fees to report data to them? One of them will not allow us to report to them unless we pay for a membership on a monthly basis. All I want to do is report to them - not pull reports. That does not matter, they still want us to pay the fee. I don't mind paying fees, but when the others do not charge for this information, I find it hard to understand. Please enlighten me....

Greetings,

Interesting response my step-son received in response to a validation demand. Allied Interstate reply's by stating we do not have any validation information, and therefore have closed this account and will notify credit reporting agencies to remove references we have reported to this account Sounds good, but, in two places it states "this is an attempt to collect a debt", and also states an "Amount Due $ xxx.xx.

I'm interested to hear comments as to whether this appears ( to you insiders ) to be potentially confusing and/or misleading to an unsophisticated debtor. Does it make sense, is it beneficial for a collection agency to include this "attempt to collect a debt" and "amount due" language in a Notice acknowledging that the validating information is unavailable and that the account is closed ?

thank You.
SpyBoy

Recently, I have noticed that a large number of the resumes we are receiving are from applicants that are touting "customer service" skills. My ad is nowhere to be found in customer service, or sales, or telemarketing. It is clearly in the debt collection section with all the other collection agencies. My ad makes no mention of "customer service". In fact, I'm old school wherein "customer service" and "debt collection" are like oil and water. They don't mix. It's an oxymoron.

That doesn't mean we rip and tear on debtors, because we all know that doesn't get you paid either, but I certainly forbid my collectors from being kissy-faced, pansy-ass "customer service" collectors. "Customer service" doesn't get us PAID. As a matter of fact, I crack a whip on my collectors when I hear "please" in their demand. I do not permit the use of words such as "Could you...", or "Would you...", or "Can you...". Collecting is about making statements and making demands.......not asking for the money.

Where is this coming from? Why are collectors suddenly thinking that agencies want collectors to be "customer service reps" ? Are the large agencies training their collectors to be "customer service collectors"?

.
